Silvertip wins NZ Millennium Cup!

Congratulations to our 33.8m, 2001 launched, Silvertip - winner of the 2012 NZ Millennium Cup!
The final race, sponsored by Yachting Developments, had been much anticipated as a decider race, with Silvertip and Georgia and Georgia and Imagine both very close in the points rankings after three races.
After a race postponement of three hours, and a slight increase of breeze a course was announced. Eclipse retired and left the remaining yachts to battle it out. Unfortunately after three hours of racing, the race committee were forced to abandon racing just off Rakino Island due to the calm conditions. At the time of cancellation Silvertip was leading the fleet, only re-inforcing her strong record throughout the regatta.
With three of the four planned races completed that meant that Silvertip was once again the winner of the Millennium Cup, having won the event in 2009. In second place was Georgia, followed by Imagine in third place, Janice of Wyoming in fourth place and Eclipse fifth. The yachts then made their way back home in time for the NZ Millennium Cup Gala Evening, sponsored by Yachting Developments.
Over $10,000 was raised for charity. A prize giving, hosted by MC Peter Montgomery, took place, with Silvertip reclaiming her cup. Guests were serenaded by the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra and enjoyed the best of New Zealand's food and wine.
