Dubois Cup 2011 update

The 2011 Dubois Cup will be held on June 4th to the 6th, immediately before the Boat International Loro Piana Regatta. This follows the successful formula adopted in 2009 and the racing will be organised by the very efficient Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
Great interest is being given to the 2011 event and we are expecting in excess of 10 Dubois yachts including the very exciting 58.4m Kokomo (complete with lifting keel and large sloop rig), the new 57.5m ketch Twizzle launching in July this year and several other new and advanced craft.
There is no question that while sailing superyachts are primarily designed and built for long distance and independent cruising, owners of these large craft find great enjoyment and satisfaction in racing them in the various newly formed regattas around the world.
That is why we founded the Dubois Cup – an event, held biennially, where by Dubois designed yachts can compete together and enjoy getting the best out of their yachts. One of the lovely things about owning a Dubois designed yacht is that they are mostly similar in displacement/length ratio and sail area/displacement ratio. This is because we finely tune these primary characteristics to ensure that the yachts are seaworthy in all conditions but still deliver a satisfying turn of speed. Our large, fast cruising yachts follow the format of needing to be ultimately seaworthy, strong, reliable and independent and very comfortable, while at the same time being fast exciting yachts to sail.
