  • Central Agency
  • Dubois Yachts is based alongside its sister company Dubois Naval Architects at Beck Farm near Lymington, UK.

Dubois Yachts Limited has been formed as a result of pressure from satisfied design company clients who sought advice regarding their yacht’s charter and eventual sale as well as prospects interested in having a new boat built or purchasing a brokerage yacht.

The new company has over fifty years of experience in the yachting world between its key personnel. Ed Dubois started Dubois Naval Architects in the 1970s and has been working with Malcolm McKeon since 1981. They have played an integral role in the development of the modern sailing super yacht. James McMaster and Sarah Fraser bring many years experience in the brokerage and charter markets respectively.

Dubois Yachts specialises in the purchase, sale and charter of Dubois designed yachts. We are the logical place for interested parties to make contact and this is reinforced by an extensive marketing campaign.

Dubois Naval Architects reputation has been built up over twenty-five years. The same standards of knowledge, experience, service and integrity will be applied at Dubois Yachts Limited.

    The Central Agency
The Dubois Yachts Central Agency allows an owner to market his yacht for charter through a company specialising in Dubois Designed yachts. He will benefit from the extensive good will of the design house and from Dubois Yachts’ ongoing marketing campaign.

Dubois Yachts Limited recognise that it is of paramount importance that a yacht’s charter activities in no way detract from an individual owner’s enjoyment of his yacht. To this end we take a great deal of trouble to understand the objectives and expectations of the owner. Only once this is done do we begin to develop a marketing strategy to maximise the charter revenue within these agreed parameters.

Some Owners require the maximum possible number of weeks chartered. Others give a very limited charter availability and are very particular with regard to the Yacht’s marketing as well as her location and even the profile of the charterer. In all cases, we respect the Owner’s wishes and tailor a programme to suit.

    Brochure and Internet
A good brochure and, more recently, a good website are pre-requisites for a successful charter season. Most yachts have a brochure produced during their build and it can be cost effective to use this as a basis.

The brochure must be attractive and give all relevant information to each potential charterer. It must accurately reflect the yacht’s present condition. These brochures are sent to cooperating travel agents and brokers worldwide as well as to known charterers and enquiries.

Dubois Yachts Ltd. have their own website www.duboisyachts.com. We are pleased to link our site to your yacht’s individual website. We are members of BUCNET and the CDI Guide (Charter Databank International) which give the trade immediate, cost effective, access to the yacht’s specifications and availability.

In the event you don’t have a yacht brochure or website prepared we are pleased to oversee their production. We have good contacts for photographers and designers and can help obtain the best results whilst controlling cost.

    Charter availability
Once her Owner’s expectations are clearly understood we will produce a master calendar. Thus will be held by us and details of her bookings and availability will be made available to all charter brokers and travel agents worldwide. Regular mailings, updates to our own website as well as listings on BUCNET and CDINET ensures the yacht is kept prominently in front of the yachting community. This gives up to date, accurate information regarding her availability, an absolute must for a continuous flow of business.

    Advertising and Boat Shows
The yacht will be included in our general advertising and PR campaign. In addition to this there may be opportunities for specific advertising in publications for particular events. In the event we recommend this advertising we will of course pass on any special rates to the owner.

There are number of charter boat shows depending where the boat is. The two shows we would usually recommend in particular are Genoa in May and Antigua in December. These are generally accepted as being the lead shows in the Mediterranean and Caribbean respectively. Naturally we will make the necessary arrangements and help maximise these opportunities for the Owner. These shows are where “the trade” have a chance to inspect the yacht enabling them to recommend her to their clients.

    Charters
Dubois Yachts will handle all aspects of the yacht’s charter. We will negotiate the charter rate and the charter contract. We will handle the monies through our Client’s account making the necessary disbursements. We will liase between the charterers and the yacht crew ensuring they are completely aware of any special requirements and that the charter is a success. We will discuss the yacht’s itinerary with the Captain and her charter guests making it suits both parties.

    Commission
The yachting industry has a set commission structure and this is reflected in the Central Agency System. The standard commission on a charter is 15%. A central agent requires 5% for his services thereby giving a maximum of 20% commission payable on any one charter. However, in the event Dubois Yachts Ltd., as Central Agents, book a charter to one of their direct clients only 15% is payable.
