  • As the Dubois website goes live for the first time - in November 2000 - our industry is enjoying an upsurge as never seen before.

Boat shows such as Monaco in September and Fort Lauderdale in late October showed an unprecedented amount of interest with the market recognising both the privacy and satisfaction to be had from owning a yacht. Nowhere else, other than on a yacht, can one these days feel truly independent and private.

We are very lucky to be in this industry at this time - yacht design offers a great place to express new ideas in architecture and with our racing background and 25 years experience of designing hulls which look good and perform well, we are in a unique position to develop ideas and combine new layouts and opportunities within a firm, well experienced framework.

While the superyacht side of our business goes from strength to strength, we are not ignoring racing boats - we have just received an order for a 40 foot IRC boat to be built here on the banks of the Solent - Britain's yacht racing centre. Designed to compete in Britain's major races including the 2001 Fastnet Race, the new design draws on the experience with Victric 4 - our super successful IRC racer.

Other performance boats include a 79 foot racer-cruiser which is due to start building in New Zealand early next year and the 111 footer Silvertip, due for completion in May 2001.

This uniquely broad base of racing boat success and strong presence in the superyacht market provides a variety which has inevitable benefits all round.
