  • Design 162 - Aquel II - Vainqueur
  • Renamed Vainqueur and designed by Dubois Naval Architects, Aquel II, a 37.2 m. (122.1') sloop, has luxurious accommodation and highly sophisticated control systems previously unknown on a sailing yacht of this size. The result is high performance, long range and unmatched style.

No effort has been spared to optimise the performance and appearance of the new Aquel II. For example, the superyacht and all the interior joinery are built in the hi-tech composites now widely used in aircraft and racing yacht construction, giving great strength for a fraction of the weight of more conventional materials. Various keel and centreboard combinations were tank tested to find the configuration giving optimum performance under more interesting conditions within the draft restriction imposed by some of the world's harbours.

Aquel II has remarkably clean lines and absence of clutter on deck, achieved by cleverly designing such essential features as ventilators, davits, rig and anchor handling gear into concealed locations which blend smoothly into the hull, deck and superstructure.

There are many other less obvious but equally innovative design details which contribute to her high performance under sail and power with a minimum number of crew. All the engineering and systems have been selected for reliability and efficiency, while special care has been taken during installation to minimise both noise and corrosion. The latest electronic systems are fitted, with full satellite communication facilities.

The interior blends effectively with the external styling and functional needs of a sophisticated modern yacht.
