  • Design 198 - Gefion
  • Gefion, 8 metre racing sloop, was launched in 1987 and still proves herself to be successful on the racing circuit.

When Sigge Svensson met Phil Crebbin during the trials on the twelves of the British America´s Cup challenge in 1987, the idea was born to ask Ed Dubois to design a winner for the 1988 World Cup in Sandham. Phil Crebbin was hired as project engineer and a star was born. Gefion won her first World Cup with a clean sweep and after that she went on to win the World Cup another four times. In 1997 Gefion was bought by Benoit de Gorski from Geneva, who gave her a major overhaul. At the 1999 World Cup, Gefion represented the Société Nautique de Genève in Rochester. Her success is unequalled. Entering the 2000 8 metre World Championships as one of the favourites, she went on to win the event.
