Gefion - 1988 12.8m. (42.11') 8 Metre Racing Yacht
Gefion was the first of 3 (to date) 8m designs produced by Dubois. Owned by Sigge Svensson, and skippered by sailing colleague Phil Crebbin (who obtained the commission for Ed in 1988), the yacht was built by Parigon Composites is less than 6 weeks. She won the World Championship in Sweden that year with Dubois co-director Malcolm McKeon aboard and has won a further 4 World Championships since that date. The Metre Rule (or more correctly called the International Rule) is very exacting design-wise and provides great satisfaction to a designer - particularly when the yacht is successful.
