Genuine Risk - 2004
27.4m (89.9') Racing Sloop

Genuine Risk was launched on April 26th and sailed a day later.

This advanced cant keel racing yacht is a result of a year's research and development involving the Dubois team and also Andy Claughton and Clay Oliver. The Wolfson Unit at Southampton University was used as the research centre.

The design employs a canting keel and fore and aft rudders.

McConaghy Boats were chosen as the builder having probably as much experience as anyone in this field of advanced racing yacht construction.

Southern Spars built the rig and North the sails.

This is a no compromise project and all the signs are that the efforts in research and development in each and every area of design and construction will bear fruit.

The Cariboni cant keel system can swing the deep draft fin and bulb through one hundred degrees (fully port cant to fully starboard cant) in eight seconds.

Initial sailing trials in Sydney Harbour confirmed the boat's high performance. The boat is now being shipped to San Diego for a month's trials before competing in a series of races firstly on the East coast of the States and later in Europe.
