90m motoryacht

Overview

Dubois/Feadship 90m

The new Feadship 90m is a wonderful opportunity for us at Dubois Naval Architects.

Following the very positive experience with Feadship in the two 46m motor yacht designs, and following successful negotiations by Alex Krykanyuk, Feadship requested that we become involved as naval architects and stylists for this new project.

The new design, conceived by Feadship, is for a relatively narrow, easily driven and fast motoryacht capable of sustained speeds over 20kts.

The styling is a development of the Dubois motoryacht concept; streamlined and having a double inflexion in the powerful sheer line.

The main exterior feature is this powerful sheer with a slight drop at the bow hinting, we believe, at speed and practicality.  The strong sweep downwards towards the saloon allows good visibility from this area and the ‘haunch’ at about 30% aft from the bow lends the feeling of a powerful and extremely capable vessel.   We have sought to convey a message of a ‘living’ vessel, with a deep source of animated energy.

This 90m design offers a maximum beam of 11.8m and an accommodation layout which allows for eight crew forward on the lower deck along with three staff cabins and four further officer cabins.

The guest accommodation comprises of a full-beam owners cabin, four VIP forward on the bridge deck and a further four guest cabins on the main deck.

The interior design is being developed in conjunction with Feadship and will incorporate a very easy flow from one space to the next and excellent visibility from all areas.

Two particularly interesting features are the partially shaded sundeck with a pool, which has lift and stair access to the central closed lobby with day head.  And the ‘beach club’ space which is proposed with direct access to the tender launch area.  Platforms at sea level will allow easy boarding of tenders and access for water sports.

Primarily known, in our early days especially, as sailing yacht designers, we have found that the understanding of hydrodynamics and easily driven hulls gives us a somewhat different insight when approaching motoryacht design, in terms of both efficiency and seakeeping.

We are also acutely aware of weight and weight distribution and this, again, comes from our sailing yacht experience.

We feel that our motoryachts – many of which have now won important awards – have benefited significantly from our sailing yacht design experience.
