Windy 39 Camira
Windy 39 Camira
Overview
The first of these sleek, retro-styled dayboats, whose classic reverse sheer and wrap-around windscreen are intended as a conscious echo of Johnsen’s highly successful 31 Zonda introduced last year, has now been launched.
With two double cabins and a single head with a separate shower, the 39 also features a versatile cockpit layout. This includes a clever pair of sliding seats, which can be rolled together to form a curved, aft-facing sofa. There is also a small garage in the stern which allows for the stowage of a fully inflated two-metre tender. The cockpit boasts a barbeque grill and a sink, and there is a practical galley below.
As with the 31, the 39 is conceived as a return to the pleasures of boating, pure and simple, with no gimmicks, just practical solutions. The cockpit cover with full standing headroom is designed to be as trouble-free as possible, and can be put up or down in a matter of minutes, stowing under the aft bench seat and cockpit steps. On the foredeck, a sun awning can be rigged on four carbon-fibre poles.
A true sports cruiser, the 39 is powered by a pair of six-cylinder, 400hp Volvo diesels with Duoprop drives. These give a maximum speed in the region of 45 knots, and economical cruising in the thirties. A roomy engine room ensures all-round servicing access and will also have space for a 4.5kW generator to power the galley and run the air-conditioning, if needed.
